When you first say the word model, your mind might jump straight to the fashion catwalks of Paris, London, and Milan- tall and slender, strutting down the catwalk in 6-inch heels staring coolly ahead into the distance. However, modelling is much more than just catwalks, and near-impossible body standards. This post will outline 10 different types of models to showcase the true diversity of the profession.

Here at Push Promotions, we can provide models for a range of events and campaigns such as exhibitions, photoshoots, product launches and PR stunts. We have previously supplied real models for a ‘Grease-themed’ photoshoot with Secret Cinema, promotional models all around the country, model dressers for London Bridal Week, and more! Model headshots are also available upon request.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF MODELS:

1. Fashion Models

Fashion models showcase clothing, accessories, and beauty products in fashion shows, magazines, advertisements, and other promotional materials. They are known for their appearance, including physical features, body proportions, and ability to pose and walk confidently on the runway. They are skilled at posing, walking in high heels, and conveying the desired mood or aesthetic of a fashion collection. Additionally, fashion models are often responsible for creating visual impact and capturing the attention of consumers, ultimately influencing trends and consumer behavior within the fashion industry.

2. Commercial / Real Models

Commercial models work in advertisements and promotional campaigns for a wide range of products and services. They represent everyday people and are selected based on their relatability to the target audience. These models are diverse in terms of age, ethnicity, body type, and gender, therefore reflecting the increasing emphasis on inclusivity and representation in the industry. Real models can be seen various types of adverts such as print ads, television commercials, catalogues, and online advertisements.

3. Fitness Models

Fitness models have well-toned bodies and represent the health and fitness industry. They appear in advertisements for fitness equipment, sportswear, supplements, and related products. Fitness models often have strong physiques and showcase exercises, workout routines, and healthy lifestyles.

4. Glamour Models

Glamour models are known for their sensuality and beauty. They typically appear in men’s magazines, swimsuit editorials, and adult-oriented content. Glamour models focus on showcasing their physical attractiveness and allure.

5. Runway Models

Also known as catwalk models, runway models specialize in walking the runway during fashion shows. They are skilled at showcasing clothing and designers’ creations in a dynamic and visually appealing manner. Runway models have specific height and body requirements and are selected based on their ability to carry off high-fashion designs on the runway. Model dressers may be required to assist at catwalks and runways.

6. Plus-Size Models

Plus-size models represent body diversity and cater to a market that embraces larger body sizes. They work in fashion, advertising, and editorial shoots, promoting inclusivity and body positivity.

7. Parts Models

Moreover, parts models specialize in modelling specific body parts, such as hands, feet, legs, or eyes. They are often featured in advertisements for jewellery, cosmetics, shoes, and other products that focus on specific body features.

8. Promotional Models

Promotional models, also known as brand ambassadors or event models, represent brands at promotional events such as trade shows, conventions, and product launches. They interact with the public, distribute samples, provide product information, and create brand awareness. Push Promotions regularly supply promotional models to events and venues around the country such as the NEC Birmingham, Manchester Central, and London ExCel. They can work in various roles, e.g. hosts & hostesses, retail staff, hospitality staff, registrations staff, product demonstrators, and more.

10. Fitness and Wellness Models

They self-promote on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and increasingly on Tik Tok.
