Street Team Marketing
We previously published an article titled ‘What Is Street Team Marketing?’. This explored the origins of the technique, what it entails, and some handy tips and tricks to consider when planning such a marketing campaign. To read the article in full, please click on our News Page.
Street team marketing is relatively cost-effective compared with digital marketing but relies heavily on hiring the right promotional staff. This type of marketing generates personal and memorable interactions with potential customers by starting conversations about your company. Having engaging, personable, and knowledgeable staff is therefore highly important.
This is where Push Promotions comes in! With a network of over 3000 skilled and experienced promotional staff, we can supply street teams to anywhere in the UK at relatively short notice for competitive prices! Such campaigns usually take place at locations with high foot traffic such as high streets, commuter links, and stations.
Push Promotions Street Marketing Experience
We have been supplying temporary promotional staff to the UK’s most iconic brands for over a decade. We can do the same for you! Below we have listed just 5 of the previous street team marketing campaigns that we have provided the staff for.
1. NME
The British music, film, and culture magazine, NME, became a free publication in 2015. They launched a street team guerilla marketing campaign with Push Promotions to make the public aware of the change.
We provided 20 brand ambassadors, who staged a fake protest by marching around London with placards arguing to ‘Free NME Magazine’. After all, what gets more attention than an angry mob marching around England’s capital.
We also supplied a further 20 members of staff to hand out free magazines at various offices and venues around London. This ensured that as much ground was covered as possible, and meant that more members of the public were reached.
2. PerfectDraft
2020 was the first time since World War II that the official German beer festival Oktoberfest was canceled in the UK. However, PerfectDraft refused to let Covid ruin the occasion! Instead they recruited Sketch Events to bring the magic of Oktoberfest to people’s homes through a guerrilla marketing campaign. Sketch Events then sourced a team of staff for this event from Push Promotions.
Overnight, we took over the UK’s smallest village, Llanwrtyd Wells! With Oompa bands, a procession of costumed brand ambassadors, Oktoberfest stalls offering free samples of German food, and giveaways of PerfectDraft pints and machines. Transforming the village into a Bavarian wonderland!
This marketing campaign utilised the element of surprise, interacted directly with the public on their doorsteps and created memorable moments. Perhaps most importantly, it also attracted national press attention- promoting the company nationally.
3. West Midlands Railway
In 2018 Push Promotions supplied several street teams of promotional staff to work at West Midlands Railway’s free coffee giveaway event. Our experienced brand ambassadors were assigned to various stations around the West Midlands such as Wolverhampton Train Station, Walsall, and Coventry.
Small teams of staff were present at each train station to giveaway empty cups and vouchers. These could be redeemed at either Leon in Birmingham New Street or Centenary Lounge in Snow Hill for a free coffee. The price of the coffee was the equivalent of an ‘Evening Day Return’ ticket with West Midlands Railway. Highlighting their value for money.
All of our staff were provided with a full briefing pack before their shift, which included various key messages to relate to the public from West Midlands Railway. They were also given branded jackets to wear throughout the promotional activity, making them instantly recognisable.
4. Urban Legend
Push Promotions provided an experienced street team to work with Urban Legend, promoting their first-ever donut shop in Brighton! Urban Legend sells ‘too good to be true’ donuts which are as scrumptious as any competitors despite containing less sugar, fat, and calories.
Out staff worked from a vibrantly pink Urban Legend cart! From here they engaged with members of the public, and promoted Urban Legend by offering free donut samples and explaining the brand’s key messages. They were also responsible for giving out BOGOF discount flyers and directing potential customers to the physical store to redeem this discount.
There was also a large donut-stack photo-backdrop by the cart. Our ambassadors encouraged the public to take photos in front of and post online with the #ImABeliever hashtag.
5. Pork Farms
Since 2017 we have been providing Pork Farms with our best food sampling staff. We have worked with the Nottingham-based pork pie producer at product sampling events across the UK, supplying 100’s of staff.
Our skilled and enthusiastic sampling staff engage with the public in areas of high foot traffic. They educate consumers about the Pork Farms brand and products, and offer free samples of their products. Samples often include their Classic Pork Pies, Melton Mowbray Pies, and Branston Topped pies. They work from a Pork Farms food truck and have branded jackets, shirts, and aprons.
