Data capture staff, as the name suggests, collect data from the public about your brand, products and services. They provide huge insights into how you can improve your marketing strategies, products, customer relations, and more.

Here at Push Promotions, we provide such staff to exhibitions, trade-shows, product launches, shopping centres, and more. Anywhere where data about your brand can be collected from valuable sources- potential customers!

Data capture staff need to possess specific characteristics and skills to perform their roles effectively. Some of the key characteristics include:

Waterloo Station Technology Staff

1. Attention to Detail:

Data capture staff must be meticulous in capturing and recording accurate information. A small mistake can result in lost leads or incorrect data, which can negatively impact post-event follow-ups.

2. Communication Skills:

They need to be able to clearly explain the data capture process to attendees, exhibitors, and other stakeholders. Strong verbal communication skills help them engage with people and collect necessary information. They don’t want to appear combative or as ‘sales people’. Data capture staff genuinely want to hear about opinions so need to be approachable, and friendly to gain true insights. They are not there to sell.

3. Tech-Savvy:

Since much of the data collection relies on electronic devices, staff must be comfortable using technology, such as scanners, tablets, CRM software, and mobile apps, to record and manage data. It is therefore vital for staff to be able to use such software efficiently. You don’t want to leave members of the public waiting whilst you work out how to use the systems.

4. Organisational Skills:

Being organised helps staff efficiently manage large volumes of data, ensure proper categorisation, and stay on top of various tasks, such as verifying and inputting data. Data capture staff need to stay on topic, prioritise certain information, and ensure their target market are approached.

5. Discretion and Confidentiality:

Data capture staff often handle sensitive information, so they must maintain a high level of professionalism and adhere to data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) to safeguard privacy.

6. Customer Service Orientation:

They should be approachable and professional when interacting with the public. Positive customer service can enhance the experience for visitors and encourage them to engage in the data capture process. Members of the public should come away from any interaction with a positive impression of your brand, feeling that you really value their opinion and contributions.

7. Adaptability:

Events such as exhibitions, and public gatherings can be dynamic, data capture staff must therefore be able to adapt to changing circumstances, such as technology malfunctions, newly announced products, and general event chaos!

These traits ensure that data capture staff can manage events smoothly, ensuring that accurate and valuable data is gathered and utilised effectively for post-event purposes.
