OKTOBERFEST GUERRILLA MARKETING STAFF
We worked with Sketch Events to provide Perfect Draft with Oktoberfest guerrilla marketing staff at this exciting and immersive event. 2020 was the first time since World War II that the official German beer festival Oktoberfest was cancelled in the UK. However, PerfectDraft refused to let Covid ruin the annual autumnal festival. Instead they recruited Sketch Events to bring the magic of Oktoberfest to people’s homes through a guerrilla marketing campaign. Sketch Events then sourced staff for their event from Push Promotions.
Overnight, we took over the UK’s smallest village, Llanwrtyd Wells in Wales. There was an Oompa band, a procession of costumed brand ambassadors, Oktoberfest stalls offering free samples of German food, and giveaways of PerfectDraft pints and machines. Transforming the village into a Bavarian wonderland!
Our staff were provided with a detailed brief before the event. For example the key people to target (males aged over 35+) and easy German phrases to use with the public, e.g. “Prost!” which translates to “Cheers!”.
Our staff were also supplied with Bavarian costumes before the event to fully immerse themselves and the people of Llanwrtyd Wells in German culture! Traditional Dirndl dresses were worn by the ladies and Lederhosen by the men.
This guerrilla campaign utilised the element of surprise, interacted directly with the public, and created memorable moments for everybody involved. Furthermore, most importantly it attracted national press attention- promoting the company nationally.
