What Is Roadshow Marketing?

Brand Ambassador in Birmingham working at a roadshow

Take your promotional campaign on the road with roadshow marketing! Mobile roadshows bring brand promotion directly to the public. They operate in high footfall areas, engage directly with potential customers, and often create immersive and memorable experiences. They bring fun, creativity, and the spontaneity to brand promotion.

Roadshow Marketing

Roadshows are designed so that they can relocate easily and quickly, permitting nationwide brand promotion. The average duration of a roadshow is 6 months- just think how many potential customers can be reached in this time! This means that the roadshow is often on wheels. Promotion is usually carried out from a truck, van or other wheelable platform.

For example, think of the Coca-Cola Christmas truck which has grown from a simple promotional roadshow to an iconic UK Christmas tradition! Thousands of the people flock to their town centres every year to see it, and receive a free sample of Coca-Cola at the same time. News outlets always cover the event, and thousands of related photos and messages are posted on social media. This all inevitably creates huge brand awareness! If your roadshow can generate even 1/10th of the excitement that the Coca-Cola truck does, then your event is a success!

The fact that roadshows are only present in one location for a small amount of time can also be a huge advantage. People don’t want to miss out, and word-of-mouth about a pop-up roadshow means that people may rush to see you before you move onto your next location.

What Does Roadshow Marketing Actually Involve?

Roadshows are used for a huge variety of promotional reasons, for example:

1. Raise general brand awareness

2. Promote or launch a specific product or service

3. Test a new product before officially announcing, launching, or finalising it

4. Distribute leaflets, discount codes, free samples, branded goodies etc.

5, Run competitions

6. Collect data or feedback from the public, and more!

Roadshow marketing therefore has huge potential and possibilities!

Roadshow Marketing Promotional Staff

Nowadays, roadshows commonly utilise experiential marketing. Rather than simply promoting a product, experiential marketing aims to fully immerse consumers in an experience, creating a lasting impression between the consumer and brand. This can be through hands-on experiences such as games or competitions, flash mobs, world-record attempts, or anything else exciting and attention grabbing.

Roadshow Promotional Staff

Another important factor of roadshow marketing is the staff that you hire. The way that your promotional staff interact with and connect with the public is an integral part of your roadshow’s success. Staff should be warm, approachable, engaging, and knowledgable about the company as well as its products/services. They should represent the brand’s vibe and key values.

Food Sampling Staff

This is where Push Promotions comes in! With a staff database of over 3000, we supply local staff (therefore saving you transport and accommodation costs) to nearly every UK location. Thus making them perfect for roadshows! Throughout our database we have staff with experience in nearly every industry sector e.g. gaming, cosmetics & cars, and all types of promotional activity. Our in-house team handpick each member of staff for each event to ensure that they truly fit your company and promotional requirements.

Depending on the specifics of your roadshow, Push Promotions can supply a variety of staff to fulfill your needs. For example, leafleting staff for literature distribution or sampling staff to distribute product, food, drink, or other promotional samples. We have staff with Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification as well as trained baristas, bartenders and mixologists. We also supply brand ambassadors for general promotional work, promotional models to encourage public participation, data capture staff to collect data and feedback from the public, and more!

Moreover, we can also supply event managers to oversee teams of staff and ensure the smooth-running of an event.

Locations

Roadshows can take place all year round and in nearly all locations, such as:

  • Train stations
  • High streets
  • Festivals
  • Shopping centres
  • Exhibitions
  • Supermarkets
  • Outside arenas or stadiums

Roadshow Marketing Promo Staff

These are all areas of high foot traffic so thousands of people are likely to walk past and potentially be enticed by the roadshow. Although roadshows can technically take place all year around, the weather however should be a factor considered when planning such events.

Push Promotions Experience

Push Promotions has over a decade of experience providing staff to roadshows and other types of promotional campaigns. We have worked with internationally-renowned brands such as Live Nation, Netflix, Hobbycraft, Direct Line, and the National Trust. Here are some examples of the previous roadshows that we have provided roadshow staff for:

Pork Farms

Since 2017 we have been providing Pork Farms with our best food sampling staff. Pork Farms is a British producer and distributor of pork pies. We have worked with the Nottingham-based company at product sampling events across the UK, supplying 100’s of staff.

Food Sampling Truck Staff

Our skilled and enthusiastic sampling staff engage with the public in multiple ways. For example, they inform consumers about the Pork Farms brand and products. They also distribute free samples of their products. Samples often include their Classic Pork Pies, Melton Mowbray Pies, and Branston Topped pies. Staff are all informed of sample ingredients so they can prevent any allergic reactions etc. All staff work from a Pork Farms food truck and wear branded jackets, shirts, and aprons to make themselves recognisable to the public.

Benefit

To celebrate their ‘Home for the Holidays’ competition, Benefit Cosmetic’s toured the UK in 2021. They did so from a Barbie-esque pink motorhome to promote their products and encourage competition entries. Push Promotions supplied 1 highly experienced ambassador to work with Benefit during the Birmingham stop of their motorhome’s UK tour!

Brand Ambassador

As they were working alone, we ensured our brand ambassador was confident, engaging, and a perfect fit for Benefit Cosmetics! They received a full brief and training via an online webinar prior to the event. They were also given a pink Benefit varsity jacket to fully represent the brand.

Our ambassador had several roles on the day. Firstly, to encourage students to scan the QR code on the side of the motorhome to enter Benefit’s ‘Home for the Holidays’ competition. Secondly, to give out incentive cards that promoted the competition and Benefit’s new delivery and bookable brow service. And finally, to manage the queue and capacity of the vehicle. Our ambassador multi-tasked effectively, and represented the brand perfectly to the student demographic.
