What Staff Are Needed At Tour Pop-Up Shops?

Film promotion staff at a shopping centre

The staffing of music tour pop-up shops is a mix of retail, logistics, and fan-experience roles. Since they’re temporary, the teams are usually lean but highly organised. Here at Push Promotions we can provide all of the following staff, and have hundreds of staff on our books with retail experience.

For more information about what these shops are, as well as examples, please read our other article here.

Here’s a breakdown of the key roles in tour pop-up shops:

Core Retail & Sales Staff

  • Store Manager / Supervisor: Oversees daily operations, manages staff, ensures sales targets and merchandising standards are met.
  • Sales Assistants / Cashiers: Handle transactions, restock items, answer fan questions, and keep the floor organized.
  • Merchandise Specialists: Trained on product knowledge (e.g. vinyl editions, sizing of collab apparel) so fans get accurate info.

Fan Experience & Engagement Staff

  • Greeters / Line Managers: Control entry (important when queues are long), welcome fans, explain store layout or rules.
  • Photo Booth / Interactive Zone Attendants: If there are green screens, album-cover backdrops, or VR stations, staff help fans use them and keep things moving.
  • Security / Crowd Control: Essential for high-profile artists like Oasis, BTS, or Harry Styles. They manage queues, protect stock, and handle crowd surges.

Logistics & Back-of-House Staff

  • Inventory / Stockroom Team: Manage deliveries, restock shelves, track sales to avoid overselling limited items.
  • Visual Merchandisers: Set up displays, signage, and themed décor to match the artist’s brand or album aesthetic.
  • Tech Support: For POS systems, digital activations, and sometimes livestreams or AR/VR elements.

Optional / Special Roles

  • Brand Partner Reps: If there are collabs (e.g. Oasis × adidas, Rolling Stones × Levi’s), reps may be present to explain product details.
  • Artist’s Team / Label Reps: Occasionally present to oversee authenticity, PR, and limited-edition drops.
  • Event Photographers / Social Media Staff: Capture fan experiences and push real-time marketing online.
  • VIP / Meet-and-Greet Coordinators: Only if the artist is involved directly in the pop-up.

In practice, a small pop-up might run with 8-12 staff per shift (e.g. manager, 2–3 cashiers, 2 floor staff, 2 stock, 1–2 security).

However a major pop-up (for example, Oasis’s Carnaby Street store) could easily require 20–30 staff daily, especially during tour dates when fan traffic surges.

Push Promotions can provide all of the above staff to such stores, and have done so for artists across the UK. We have previously supplied staff for tours at Wembley Stadium, and Birmingham arenas. Click here to read about our previous work. Get in touch with us today for more information.
