In an award show setting, front-of-house staff are the individuals who directly interact with the audience, celebrities, and guests, ensuring the event runs smoothly from the moment they arrive until they leave. These staff members are key to creating a seamless and enjoyable experience for both VIPs and general attendees.
Push Promotions can, and do, provide such staff for events. For example, we’re previously supplied staff to the Pride of Britain Awards. You can read about our previous work here. Below are the main types of front-of-house staff at an award show:
1. Guest Services and VIP Hosts
- Guest Services Manager: Oversees the entire guest experience, ensuring all attendees are happy and comfortable. This includes managing entry, seating, and any special requests.
- VIP Hosts: These are high-level concierge staff dedicated to ensuring that VIPs, nominees, and celebrities receive a personalised experience. They assist with everything from escorting guests to their seats to making sure they have any special accommodations.
- Guest Services Representatives: These staff handle general inquiries from guests, provide directions, and manage any logistical requests from attendees throughout the event.
2. Ticketing and Registration Staff
- Ticketing Manager: Oversees the distribution and verification of tickets for both general attendees and VIP guests. They work with the security team to ensure only authorized guests have access to certain areas.
- Box Office Attendants: These staff manage the check-in process, distributing tickets or wristbands to guests and ensuring smooth entry to the event
- Will Call Staff: Responsible for handing out pre-purchased tickets to attendees who have made last-minute purchases or require pick-up at the event.
We frequently provide registration and ticketing staff to events around the UK. For example, we have provided such staff to Wembley Stadium and the NEC Birmingham.
3. Usher Staff
- Head Usher: The head usher manages the ushering team, ensuring guests are escorted to their seats efficiently and without disruption. They also coordinate with security and other staff to manage any crowd control needs.
- Usher Team: These individuals help guests find their seats, direct them to restrooms, assist with accessibility issues, and provide general event information. They also help with crowd flow before and during the event.
4. Front-of-House Security
- Security Supervisor: Oversees the security of front-of-house areas, ensuring that unauthorised individuals do not enter VIP areas or backstage. They work closely with ushers and other staff to prevent disruptions.
- Security Guards: Stationed at various access points, these staff ensure that all guests are following the event’s security protocols, including checking bags, verifying tickets, and screening for prohibited items.
- Bag Check Staff: Responsible for inspecting bags and personal items of guests entering the venue to maintain safety and security.
5. Concierge Team
- Concierge Manager: Manages all concierge services for VIPs, handling special requests like transportation, personal needs, or anything requiring special attention during the event.
- Concierge Staff: Provide one-on-one services to high-profile guests, arranging for specific needs such as transportation, reservations, or any personal preferences that arise during the event.
6. Coat Check Staff
- Coat Check Attendants: Responsible for collecting guests’ coats, bags, and other personal items when they arrive, and returning them at the end of the night. They help maintain a smooth and organized check-in/check-out process.
7. Audience and Crowd Control
- Crowd Control Supervisors: In charge of ensuring that the audience behaves appropriately and maintains order, especially during critical parts of the event. They assist in managing entry and exit points to avoid bottlenecks and ensure a steady flow of people.
- Audience Wranglers: These staff assist in keeping the crowd engaged, directing them where to sit, guiding them during breaks, and maintaining energy throughout the event. They are often positioned to make sure that attendees stay within the event’s designated areas.
8. Food and Beverage Service
- Front-of-House Catering Staff: These staff members are responsible for serving food and drinks in VIP lounges or for specific tables in the audience. They may also assist with distributing welcome drinks or snacks as guests arrive.
- Bartenders: Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests in VIP sections or bars within the event venue.
- Waitstaff: Responsible for delivering meals or drinks to VIP tables, often providing personalised service for high-profile guests.
We have lots of staff within our staff database with hospitality experience. Many of our staff have Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification, as well as being trained baristas and/or mixologists (cocktail makers).
9. Accessibility Staff
- Accessibility Coordinator: Ensures that the event is accessible to individuals with disabilities. They assist with seating arrangements, transportation, and any special accommodations required to ensure all guests can enjoy the event comfortably.
- Wheelchair Escorts: These staff help escort guests who may require wheelchair assistance, ensuring they are safely seated and comfortable throughout the event.
10. Event Clean-Up and Maintenance Crew
- Front-of-House Cleaners: These staff maintain cleanliness in public areas throughout the event, such as restrooms, lobbies, and seating areas. They also assist with keeping up with any spills or trash during the event.
- Maintenance Staff: Responsible for quick fixes or addressing any facility issues that may arise during the show, like repairing broken chairs or ensuring restrooms remain stocked and functional.
Front-of-house staff therefore play a vital role in creating a seamless, positive experience for guests and ensuring the event’s success. They are the first point of contact for attendees and serve as the face of the event. From welcoming and guiding guests to managing VIP requests and maintaining security and order. Every role contributes to making the award show experience smooth, enjoyable, and memorable for everyone involved.
Here at Push Promotions, we can provide most of the above types of staff. We can also provide event managers to oversee wider teams of staff. Staff can also often provide their own formalwear for the occasion. Please contact us directly or see our website to learn more about our staff and what we can offer your brand and event.
